Suddala Ashok Teja

Suddala Ashok Teja is an Indian film lyricist and poet, renowned for his contributions to Telugu cinema and literature. Born Gurram Ashok Teja on April 4, 1954, in Suddala village of Jangaon district, Telangana, he is the son of Telugu poet Suddala Hanmanthu and his wife Janakamma, both of whom participated in the Telangana Rebellion against the Nizam of Hyderabad. Suddala Ashok Teja began writing lyrics as a child, with early support from his nephew, Uttej, a notable character actor in Telugu films. He gained prominence with his work on the films Osey Ramulamma and Ninne Pelladutha in the 1990s. His significant achievement includes winning the National Film Award for Best Lyrics in 2003 for the song “Nenu Saitham” from the film Tagore.
