AR Rahman is an acclaimed Indian music composer, record producer, singer, and philanthropist known for his contributions to Tamil, Hindi, and international cinema. He began his career composing music for documentaries and advertisements before breaking into film with Roja (1992), which brought him widespread recognition. Rahman’s international success peaked with his work on Slumdog Millionaire (2008), earning him two Academy Awards and two Grammy Awards. Born in 1967, Rahman displayed a natural talent for music from a young age, influenced by his father, R.K. Shekhar, a film composer. Despite early hardships, Rahman’s passion for music flourished, leading to a prolific career that blends Indian classical with Western music.
