Thaman S, born Ghantasala Sai Srinivas on November 16, 1983, in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India, is an Indian film music director and playback singer known for his work in the Telugu and Tamil film industries. Growing up in a Telugu-speaking family of musicians in Chennai, Thaman is the grandson of veteran director and producer Ghantasala Balaramayya. His father, Ghantasala Siva Kumar, was a drummer who worked on numerous films, while his mother, Ghantasala Savitri, his sister Yamini Ghantasala, and his aunt B. Vasantha are all playback singers. Thaman, who adopted his stage name from his father’s initial, began his career as a supporting drummer at the age of 11 for the film Bhairava Dweepam (1994). He made his debut as a music director with the Telugu film Malli Malli and the Tamil film Sindhanai Sei, both released in 2009. His acting debut was in Shankar’s Boys (2003).
